The One Thing We Lack: Following Jesus with Everything 💔➡️💯

Scripture: Mark 10:23–31

“With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” —Mark 10:27

Have you ever had one of those moments when Jesus says something, and it just hits you like a ton of bricks? 💥 That’s what happened to the disciples in Mark 10. Jesus had just watched a rich young man walk away, unwilling to part with his stuff to follow Him. And then He said something that stunned everyone: “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!” 😲

Wait… What? 💰🚪

This went against everything the disciples had been taught. In their world (and honestly, in ours too), wealth was seen as a sign of God’s blessing. If that guy couldn’t make it, what hope did the rest of us have?

But Jesus doesn’t leave them in despair. He says, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. With God, all things are possible.” 🙌

That’s grace. Pure and simple. 💧

It’s not about how good we are or what we can offer. It’s about what God has already done for us through Jesus.

Letting Go to Gain More ✋🏽🎁

Peter—never one to keep quiet—blurts out, “We’ve left everything to follow you!” You can almost hear the nervous hope in his voice. 😬

Jesus doesn’t scold him. Instead, He promises that no one who gives up something for His sake will miss out. In fact, He says we’ll receive a hundred times more—both now and in eternity. 💯⏳

That doesn’t mean we get 100 houses or 100 moms (😂), but it does mean we get a new kind of family in the church, deeper joy, real purpose, and the peace that comes from knowing we’re right where we’re supposed to be—with Jesus. ❤️🏡🌍

God’s Kingdom Is Upside Down 🔄👑

Jesus wraps it up with this powerful line: “Many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

It’s a reminder that God’s economy works differently than ours. While we often chase status, comfort, or control, Jesus calls us to something richer—something eternal. 🌅

He’s not just trying to take from us; He’s trying to give us something better.

But it requires trust. It requires letting go. It requires following, even when we don’t have all the answers. 🛤️🕊️

What’s Holding You Back? 🤔🧠

That rich young man couldn’t let go of his wealth. Jesus looked at him with love and said, “One thing you lack…”

So here’s the question for you (and for me):

What’s the one thing Jesus might be asking you to lay down today?

⚖️ Pride?

🏖️ Comfort?

📱 Distractions?

💭 A dream or fear?

Whatever it is, He’s not asking because He wants to take joy from you. He’s asking because He is the joy we’re searching for. 🎯

Following Jesus may cost you something. But it will never be more than what you gain.

💛 Eternal life.

💛 Real peace.

💛 A hundredfold family.

💛 Jesus Himself.

Let’s not walk away sad. Let’s follow Him—fully, freely, and forever. ✝️🌈
